This 3-day, 2-night journey takes travelers to Mu Cang Chai, a destination renowned for its spectacular terraced rice fields, recognized as a National Special Heritage Site with more than 2,200 hectares of terraces. Over generations, these graceful rice terraces carved into the mountainsides have become a symbol of the creativity and diligence of the Hmong people, creating a magnificent and vibrant natural landscape.

Each season reveals a different charm in Mu Cang Chai. During the water-pouring season, the terraces shimmer like giant mirrors reflecting the sky and clouds. In the harvest season, the mountains are covered in endless golden rice fields, creating breathtaking scenery that attracts thousands of visitors and photographers from around the world.

Beyond its stunning landscapes, Mu Cang Chai is also known for its rich cultural heritage. Peaceful villages, traditional markets, and the daily life of local ethnic communities offer authentic and unforgettable experiences.

Advice
FORMALITIES: A visa is required to enter Vietnam. Currently, the visa fee is USD $25.00 per person, payable upon arrival. Each participant must obtain one at their own expense. Hanh Travel can arrange this for you for a fee of CAD $50.

EXCHANGE: We recommend exchanging your currency gradually. Always carry small dong notes with you. Exchange money at banks or jewelry stores rather than at your hotel. Check the daily exchange rate at www.xe.com.
DRINKS: Drink only mineral water. Tea: The national drink, often free in restaurants. Filter coffee: Don't be in a hurry (long brewing time).
SECURITY: There are very few security problems in Vietnam, aside from pickpockets in some touristy areas. Leave your valuables in your hotel's (free) safes.
SCAMS: Beware of scams, always check the things you have purchased.
BICYCLE & MOTORBIKE: In some large cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, it is not recommended to ride a bicycle or motorbike because the traffic and the very dangerous driving of the Vietnamese constitute a real risk of accidents.
INTERNET: There is free Wi-Fi in most hotels and in major restaurants, cafes and shopping centers.
Itinerary

Guests gather at Tan Son Nhat Airport for the flight to Hanoi.

Upon arrival, meet your guide and transfer to Yen Bai Province via Nghia Lo, where you will admire Muong Lo Valley, one of the four largest rice granaries in Northwest Vietnam.

  • Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.
  • Cross Khau Pha Pass, one of the “Four Great Mountain Passes” of Northwest Vietnam.
  • Check in at Garrya Mu Cang Chai, a luxurious 5-star resort nestled in the mountains.
  • Admire Lim Mong Village from above and enjoy panoramic views of the terraced rice fields.

Free time to enjoy afternoon tea, watch the sunset, or experience the signature Hydro Wellness Therapy designed to restore body and mind amidst the pristine natural surroundings (optional, at own expense).

Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise and optionally join a morning yoga or meditation session.

After breakfast, begin the exploration of Hang Chua Xay Village:

  • Motorbike ride through the village (approximately 7 km)
  • Meet and interact with local residents
  • Capture stunning Northwest landscapes
  • Participate in traditional folk games
  • Experience traditional Hmong costumes

Return to the resort for relaxation, walking, or wellness treatments.

Lunch at Charcoal Grill Restaurant, featuring an open-kitchen concept and multicultural cuisine.

In the evening, unwind at the Underground Bar with handcrafted cocktails and light snacks.

After lunch, continue to Noi Bai International Airport for the return flight to Ho Chi Minh City.
